Christian Care Communities Moves Toward “New Normal” with Updated Visitation Policy

Christian Care is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our residents and staff in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention and the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services.  We are on a path to reopen with limited visitation and gatherings in all senior living levels of care, except for long-term nursing facilities which includes all Christian Health Centers.

In an abundance of caution, the new indoor visitation and reopening policy will take effect when a community has been without active COVID-19 cases for 14 days. If a resident or employee tests positive, all visitation, group activities, and communal dining with reset for 14 days. Once the community is clear for the 14 days then the community may reopen.

General Indoor Visitation Policy

For a resident to host a visitor, the resident must have completed an FDA-approved or authorized COVID-19 vaccination; must not be in isolation for current COVID-19 infection; must not be in quarantine after exposure to a case of COVID-19; and must not exhibit any symptoms consistent with COVID-19.

Visitors must be age 18+ and provide documentation of completing an FDA-authorized COVID-19 vaccination or receiving a negative COVID-19 test result (PCR or antigen) within 3 days of the visit. Each visitor will be required to complete a Visitor Screening and Attestation Form that will be kept on file.

Visitors must schedule a visit with the local community during limited hours.  Visitors must wear a mask, observe social-distancing, and practice frequent handwashing.

Group Activities & Communal Dining

Group activities at a community may resume with restrictions.  Participating residents must have completed an FDA-approved or authorized COVID-19 vaccination; must not be in isolation for current COVID-19 infection; must not be in quarantine after exposure to a case of COVID-19; and must not exhibit any symptoms consistent with COVID-19.

Group activities must not exceed 8 pre-screened residents who will be socially distanced and wash hands before and after the activity.

Please contact your local community for policy details or 502-254-4200 with questions regarding this policy.

Following the Lead of the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention

According to recent Governor reports, long-term care residents and staff at our Christian Health Centers  are a top priority to receive the vaccine in our fight against the coronavirus.  With statewide distribution beginning within days, nursing home residents, staff and health care workers are at the greatest risk of exposure to the virus.  Christian Care Communities is working closely with CVS Pharmacy to coordinate an efficient and safe inoculation schedule while we continue to follow strict safety measures to protect against infection.

At Christian Care Communities the health and well-being of our residents and employees is always our first priority. We take precautions to ensure our communities across the state remain guarded against the spread of viral infections. We are following guidance from federal and state officials and have adopted a policy to restrict visitors. Per this guidance, we are able to make exceptions for end of life care through our Spiritual Care program. We understand this is a daily burden for our residents and families. It is our obligation to protect those we serve and appreciate your understanding.

We care for our country’s most vulnerable population and are committed to ensuring their health and happiness. Every member of our communities team is dedicated to this mission, and we will always operate with our residents’ best interests at heart.

Our prayer

When we aren’t sure, help us be calm and discern;

When anxiety seems linger, slow us down, God;

Help us to reach out with our hearts, when we can’t touch with our hands;

Help us to love as perfectly as we can, in these imperfect times.

Give us clarity in our minds, strength in our work, rest as we sleep, peace in our minds and be with those who need help more than we do ourselves.

Amen.
