Get on the bus!

Dear Friends of Christian Care,

At Christian Care Communities, we are fortunate that we get to care for over 5000 seniors across the state. Our mission of enhancing the journey of life for seniors is focused on their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. With National Senior Citizen Day being Sunday, August 21, it is the perfect time to reflect on the blessing that seniors are to each of us and show them that they are loved, admired, and valued.

Recently Christian Care launched a statewide effort to add more fun and healthy engaging opportunities for our seniors – including making new friends and lasting memories. Trips to the grocery store, a wellness and health fair, stopping for ice cream after a movie, attending church services, and enjoying a family potluck – all add to the journey of enhancing their lives.

To ensure that our seniors get to continue experiencing these moments, Christian Care is in great need of four (4) wheelchair accessible 14-passenger buses for our seniors around the state.  Our Get on the Bus! campaign will help fund the purchase of these buses to provide seniors more healthy living choices in Corbin, Hopkinsville, Louisville, and Bowling Green.

It’s true – social isolation and loneliness are major risk factors affecting seniors’ health every day, but especially in recent months. Social connections for aging adults are critical, playing an essential role in their mental, emotional, and physical health. Seniors who are socially connected have a stronger sense of belonging, feel confident with their place in the world and experience stronger spiritual health.

This is where you can make a difference!  We are asking everyone from young children to senior citizens to help raise funds to restore independence and create fun-filled memories for Christian Care seniors. By doing this, people contribute to providing a bus that will take these individuals on a path to positive social involvement in their neighborhood.

We’ve included ideas and tools to help with this mission driven campaign. Please review the materials and share them with your Sunday School Teachers, Outreach Team, Youth Leaders, Mission Committee, Civic Clubs and anyone else who wants to help meet this important need of the seniors in our care. Please consider participating in the Get on the Bus! Campaign and spend time with a senior citizen on August 21!

In His Service,

P.S. If August is not convenient, feel free to choose any Sunday or month in 2022. Get on the Bus! donations are being collected through December 31, 2022, which leaves plenty of opportunity for participation.
