Celebrating Julia Whitehouse and Tammy Hyde – their lives touched us deeply

It was a warm spring celebration with residents, guests, and dignitaries gathered to dedicate a beautiful raised-bed memory garden and tree to memorialize Julia Whitehouse and Tammy Hyde.
Julia Whitehouse was a resident at Christian Care in Middletown for many years and radiated the love and peaceful spirit of Christ through her giving heart and piano playing. She enjoyed comforting residents with her music, and everyone enjoyed her gentle spirit as the sounds of songs filled the halls and lifted hearts. Her love for music, gardening, and sharing her gardens bounty made it only fitting for the honor of naming the handicap accessible raised-bed garden in her memory, allowing future residence to continue experiencing the joy of gardening her favorite flowers and vegetables, just as she did.

Tammy Hyde, with her unwavering dedication and boundless compassion, touched the lives of many during her nine years as a caregiver and cook at Christian Care Communities Middletown. Her cheerful smile and infectious giggles brightened the days of residence and staff alike. Despite facing her own physical challenges, Tammy always put others before herself, serving with a heart full of grace and never complaining. She was a steady presence, ever dependable, and deeply devoted to her work. Tammy also cared for her mother and sister before their passing, showing the same kindness and compassion she offered to all. We honored Tammy’s legacy by planting a flowering tree in her memory, reminding all of her selflessness and love she shared with so many.

Christian Care is grateful to the generous donors, including the lead donor Middletown Chamber of Commerce, for making the dedication possible. Thank you to the City of Douglas Hills for the Proclamation to honor both Julia and Tammy.
