Christian Care’s Employee of the Year

Jessica Broughton Honored with Prestigious Employee of the Year Award at Christian Care Communities Corbin

Jessica Broughton, RN, Director of Nursing at Christian Care Communities in Corbin, has been named the recipient of the Employee of the Year William A. Broadhurst Award, one of the organization’s highest honors. The award recognizes an employee who exemplifies the mission of Christian Care Communities — to enhance the journey of life for older adults — through faith-inspired service, leadership, and dedication.

For more than 140 years, Christian Care Communities has served older adults across Kentucky, guided by the core philosophy of Faith, Care, and Family. Named after Christian Care Communities founder, the William A. Broadhurst Award is presented annually to an individual whose daily work leaves a lasting legacy of compassionate, servant-hearted care. This year, that legacy is clearly reflected in Jessica’s leadership and commitment at our Corbin campus.

As Director of Nursing, Jessica leads by example, consistently demonstrating professionalism, collaboration, and an unwavering focus on quality care. Colleagues describe her as knowledgeable, dependable, and deeply devoted to the seniors she serves. Her ability to make sound decisions, manage time effectively, and work closely with others has helped foster strong resident and family satisfaction, while also strengthening positive relationships within our Christian Care community.

Jessica is also known for her commitment to growth — not only her own, but that of her team and the broader Christian Care organization. She actively seeks opportunities for professional development and encourages her team to do the same, creating an environment where learning and improvement are valued and encouraged!

One recent example of her leadership came during the implementation of a new Electronic Health System at our community. While new technology can often create stress and uncertainty, Jessica stepped up with confidence and determination. She taught herself the new system, developed necessary programs, trained staff across departments, and fostered cooperation throughout the building. Jessica, as always, remained calm under pressure and successfully met the program’s launch deadline.

Her ability to de-escalate tense situations and maintain team morale did not go unnoticed. Jessica was highly praised for her work and later recommended to assist with training and EHS implementation at other Christian Care Communities locations. One nurse described her as “very tech savvy,” while others highlighted her willingness to lend a helping hand and step up to any challenge.

Jessica Broughton’s receipt of the William A. Broadhurst Award is a well-deserved recognition of the difference she makes each day at Christian Care Communities Corbin — and of the positive impact her leadership has on residents, families, staff, and the greater Corbin community. Above all, many agree that her love for the residents and dedication to providing the highest quality of care never wavers.
